Ciao, travelers! I’m Rileigh, the owner of Travel Mellow, and I’m thrilled to share my personalized one-day itinerary for exploring the eternal city of Rome during the beautiful spring season. Having lived in Italy for two years, I’ve gained a deep appreciation for the country’s rich culture, history, and cuisine. This itinerary is designed to help you experience the authentic side of Rome, away from the typical tourist traps, and immerse yourself in the local way of life.

Day 1: Exploring the Iconic Sights of Rome

Start your day early and head to the Vatican City, where you can marvel at the grandeur of St. Peter’s Basilica and the breathtaking Sistine Chapel. I recommend purchasing skip-the-line tickets in advance to avoid long queues. After exploring the Vatican Museums, take a short walk to the Colosseum and Roman Forum, where you can step back in time and imagine the glory of ancient Rome.

For lunch, I suggest Armando al Pantheon, a cozy trattoria serving delicious Roman cuisine near the iconic Pantheon. After refueling, stroll through the picturesque Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, two of Rome’s most famous landmarks. Don’t forget to toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain and make a wish!

In the late afternoon, wander through the charming Piazza Navona and Campo de’ Fiori, where you’ll find street artists, lively cafés, and vibrant markets. If you’re visiting in the spring, consider attending an outdoor opera performance at the Baths of Caracalla, a unique and unforgettable experience.

As the sun sets, indulge in a delectable dinner at Salumeria Roscioli, a gourmet deli and wine bar that offers a fantastic selection of cured meats, cheeses, and Italian wines. End your day with a scoop (or two!) of gelato from Giolitti or Grom, two of Rome’s most renowned gelaterias.
