Ciao, travelers! I’m Rileigh, the owner of Travel Mellow and a former resident of Italy. Today, I’m excited to share with you a personalized itinerary for spending one day in Sorrento, a charming coastal town in the Campania region. Drawing from my experiences living in Italy, I’ve crafted this itinerary to help you experience the authentic side of Sorrento, away from the typical tourist traps. Let’s dive in!

Day 1: Sorrento’s Seaside Charm and Historic Center

Start your day by soaking up the sun and enjoying the beautiful Marina Grande and Marina Piccola beaches. I recommend grabbing a refreshing granita (Italian semi-frozen dessert) from one of the beachside cafes and taking a leisurely stroll along the promenade.

After your beach visit, head to the historic center of Sorrento and explore the charming streets and piazzas. Don’t miss Piazza Tasso, the lively heart of the town, where you can people-watch while sipping an espresso or indulging in a delicious sfogliatella (a traditional Neapolitan pastry) from one of the local cafes.

For lunch, I highly recommend Trattoria da Emilia, a family-run restaurant serving authentic Sorrentine cuisine. Be sure to try the gnocchi alla sorrentina (potato gnocchi with tomato sauce and mozzarella) and the delizie al limone (lemon delights) for dessert.

In the afternoon, consider taking a boat tour to the island of Capri. The stunning views of the Faraglioni rocks and the vibrant blue waters are truly breathtaking. If you prefer to stay on land, explore the Villa Comunale, a beautiful park with lush gardens and panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples.

As the day winds down, stroll along Corso Italia, the main shopping street, and browse the local shops for souvenirs like limoncello, ceramics, and lacework. Don’t forget to stop for a refreshing gelato at Gelateria Davide, a local favorite.
