Ciao, travelers! I’m Rileigh, the owner of Travel Mellow and a former resident of Italy. Venice is one of my favorite cities in the world, and I’m thrilled to share my insider tips for an unforgettable 3-day trip during the beautiful spring season.

Day 1: Exploring the Heart of Venice

Start your day in the iconic St. Mark’s Square, where you can admire the stunning Basilica di San Marco and the Doge’s Palace. After soaking in the grandeur, cross the famous Rialto Bridge and indulge in some Venetian cicchetti (small plates) for lunch at Osteria al Portego. In the afternoon, take a leisurely gondola ride through the canals and explore the charming Cannaregio neighborhood. For dinner, I recommend Osteria alle Testiere, a cozy spot serving delicious seafood dishes.

Day 2: Art and Island Hopping

Immerse yourself in Venice’s rich art scene by visiting the Gallerie dell’Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Afterward, wander through the picturesque Dorsoduro neighborhood and stop for lunch at Cantina Do Mori, a beloved Venetian wine bar. In the afternoon, take a day trip to the colorful island of Burano, famous for its lace-making and vibrant houses. End your day with a delicious dinner at Osteria Boccadoro, known for its authentic Venetian cuisine.

Day 3: Off the Beaten Path

Spend your final day exploring the Castello neighborhood, one of Venice’s most authentic areas. Visit the impressive Arsenale di Venezia, a former shipyard, and stop by the quirky Libreria Acqua Alta bookstore. For lunch, grab a bite at Cantina Do Spade, a cozy wine bar. In the evening, savor your last Venetian meal at Osteria da Fiore, a local favorite serving traditional dishes.

If you have extra time, consider a day trip to the nearby island of Murano, famous for its glass-blowing tradition.

General Travel Tips for Venice, Italy

  • Use the vaporetto (water buses) or walk to get around the city. Venice is best explored on foot.
  • Book popular attractions like gondola rides and restaurants in advance, especially during peak seasons.
  • Many attractions have reduced hours or are closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly.
  • Spring is an excellent time to visit Venice, with mild weather and fewer crowds than the summer months.

Venice is a truly magical city, and I hope this itinerary helps you experience its authentic charm and beauty. Remember to embrace the slower pace, get lost in the winding canals, and savor every moment in this unique destination. Buon viaggio!
